Terms of Service
Last Updated: April 17, 2026
Welcome to FortiKey. By creating an account and using our password management service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
1. Zero-Knowledge Architecture & Master Password Liability
FortiKey operates on an absolute Zero-Knowledge principle.
Mechanism: Your Master Password is used to generate an encryption key directly on your local browser/device. This key is never sent to our servers. We do not know, do not store, and have no way to access your data.
Acknowledgment: You are 100% responsible for remembering your Master Password. Any requests for account recovery support will be denied due to technical impossibility.
2. User Rights and Responsibilities
Personal Security: You are responsible for securing your endpoint devices (computers, phones) against malicious software (keyloggers, viruses) that could steal your Master Password before it is encrypted.
Lawful Use: You may not use FortiKey to store information related to illegal activities, cyber attacks, or the distribution of harmful data.
Age Requirements: The service is intended for users with full legal capacity to understand and assume the risks of data loss.
3. Intellectual Property
All source code (excluding open-source libraries), design interfaces, logos, and the FortiKey brand are the exclusive property of the author.
Using the service does not grant you the right to copy, reverse engineer, or commercialize the service without prior written consent from us.
4. Absolute Limitation of Liability
The service is provided strictly on an "As Is" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We DO NOT guarantee that the service will operate uninterrupted, without technical issues, or completely bug-free.
- We ARE NOT liable for any losses (direct or indirect) including: loss of profits, data loss, third-party account hacks, or financial damages arising from the use or inability to use FortiKey.
This exemption applies even in the event of undiscovered security flaws (Zero-days) or attacks targeting the infrastructure of our Cloud Provider.
5. Modifications and Service Termination
Service Discontinuation: As this is a non-profit project, we reserve the right to permanently or temporarily discontinue the service without prior notice. We strongly recommend users to periodically backup (export) their data.
Terms Modification: We may update these terms at any time. Your continued use of the service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
By creating an account or continuing to use FortiKey, you confirm that you fully understand the risks and release the author from any related legal liability.
